Generally, use 5 to 8 dowels arranged in an even circle, depending on the weight of the tier above, with an intermediate cake drum to distribute the load properly.
Can they really be reused?
Yes. Unlike wood, which is porous, polypropylene does not absorb cake juices. Hand-wash them after each use before reusing them.
How do I adjust the length to fit my cake?
Insert the dowel down to the tier board below, mark the exact tier height, remove it, then cut off the excess with scissors. It should be flush with the surface before placing the next tier.
