For a deep Black shade, several drops are required (allow eight to ten drops per 100 g, or more depending on the desired opacity), especially with white chocolate. Add it gradually and allow the coloring to disperse before assessing the result.

As an oil-soluble coloring, Black is formulated for fat-based preparations: melted white, dark, or milk chocolate, cocoa butter, ganache, and buttercream. It is not designed for water-based preparations such as royal icing or fondant worked with water, in which it will not disperse properly. Reserve it for fat-based mixtures, particularly for graphic drip cakes, chocolate lettering, or understated Halloween decorations.
