COLOUR MILL

Blue Bell - Oil-Soluble Colorant 20 ml

Oil-based colorant for chocolate, ganaches, and high-fat preparations.

Colour Mill Blue Bell is a concentrated oil-soluble colorant in a 20 ml dropper bottle. Its oil-based formula blends directly into chocolate, cocoa butter, ganaches, and rich creams without causing the mixture to seize. The Blue Bell shade is a soft blue-violet reminiscent of the flower of the same name, between Lavender and Royal.

Ingredients and allergens

Ingredients: Humectant: E422, vegetable oil (rapeseed), colors: E133, E120, emulsifiers: E322, E433.

Please note: This colorant is oil-soluble and will not dissolve in a water-based preparation (royal icing, syrup). Shake the bottle before use and add the color gradually: it is easier to darken a shade that is too light than to lighten a base that is already too intense. Store away from light and heat, with the bottle tightly closed.

Frequently asked questions

Does this colorant work in buttercream?

Yes. Since buttercream is a high-fat preparation, Blue Bell blends in normally when mixed in gradually until you reach the desired shade.

Can I make the Blue Bell shade darker if needed?

Yes. Add the colorant gradually, one drop at a time, mixing between additions: it is easier to darken a shade that is too light than to lighten a base that is already too intense.

How can I get a more pastel version of the Blue Bell shade?

Gradually dilute it in white chocolate or a neutral base, adding the colorant drop by drop. Blue Bell intensifies quickly, so it is best to start with a small amount and darken it rather than the other way around.
