Wilton Round Cake Pan Sets for Layer Cakes — nonstick, available in Ø15cm (5 pans) and Ø20cm (4 pans). Bake several identical sponge cake layers in a single batch for perfectly even layer cakes and rainbow cakes. Treated aluminum, straight sides, dishwasher-safe.
Two sizes available
| Size | Number of pans | Ideal use | Final servings |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ø 15 cm | 5 pans | Small layer cakes, individual cakes, gifts | 6 to 8 servings |
| Ø 20 cm | 4 pans | Family-sized layer cakes, birthdays, standard bakery size | 10 to 14 servings |
The advantage of the set: bake all the layers simultaneously = sponge cakes that are perfectly identical in thickness and color. The result is much more even than a sponge cake cut with a cake leveler, especially for rainbow cakes and naked cakes where the layers are visible.

Uses — layer cakes, rainbow cakes, naked cakes
- Rainbow cake: the signature use of the multi-pan set — each pan receives a different color, simultaneous baking, then stacking for a rainbow effect when sliced
- Classic layer cake: plain or chocolate sponge cakes baked at the same time, filled with buttercream, ganache, or whipped cream between the layers
- Naked cake: layers visible on the sides, with the filling showing — even layers are essential for a professional finish
- Ombre cake / gradient: mix the same base with progressively darker shades for a color-gradient effect when sliced
- Molly cake: a moist whipped-cream-based cake baked in Wilton pans for an even result
Usage tips
- Preparation: lightly butter the pans or spray with baking release spray. Place a circle of parchment paper on the bottom for perfect release
- Filling: weigh the batter to create identical layers — for a 4-layer Ø20cm sponge cake, divide the batter into 4 equal portions by weight
- Baking: 170–180°C fan-assisted oven. Arrange the pans in a staggered formation on the rack for optimal air circulation
- Cooling: let cool for 10 minutes in the pans, turn out onto a rack, and cool completely before filling
- Leveling: if the layers have risen slightly in the center, trim the dome with a cake leveler or serrated knife for perfectly flat layers
Cake strips: use damp baking strips (Wilton cake strips) around the pans for baking without a domed center — the result is flat without trimming.

Frequently asked questions
Can all the pans be baked at the same time?
Yes — that is the main advantage of the set. Make sure your oven is large enough to fit all the pans on the same rack. If necessary, use 2 racks and swap them halfway through baking.
Should the baking time be adjusted for thin layers?
Yes — the reduced layer height (~3.8cm maximum, often 2–3cm when the pans are half-filled) shortens the baking time by 20 to 30%. Check with a clean knife after 15 minutes, depending on the recipe.
Are these pans suitable for other recipes?
Yes — brownies (individual sharing size), thick chocolate fondants, flans, and simple sponge cakes. The Ø15cm size is particularly versatile for individual or travel-friendly recipes.
