COLOUR MILL

Red - Oil-Soluble Food Coloring 20 ml

Oil-based food coloring for chocolate, ganaches, and fat-based preparations.

Colour Mill Red is a concentrated oil-soluble food coloring packaged in a 20 ml dropper bottle. Its oil-based formula blends directly into chocolate, cocoa butter, ganaches, and fat-based creams without causing the preparation to seize. The Red shade delivers a clear, intense red without orange or brown undertones.

Features

  • Red shade: a clear, intense red without orange or brown undertones.
  • Compatible with couverture chocolate, ganaches, cocoa butter, and buttercream (fat-based preparations).
  • 20 ml dropper bottle for gradual, drop-by-drop dosing.
  • Listed formula is gluten-free, lactose-free, and vegan.

Please note: this food coloring is oil-soluble and does not dissolve in water-based preparations (royal icing, syrup). Shake the bottle before use and add the color gradually: it is easier to darken a shade that is too light than to lighten a base that is already too intense. Store away from light and heat, with the bottle tightly closed.

Frequently asked questions

Is this food coloring suitable for royal icing or water-based fondant?

No: Red is an oil-soluble, oil-based food coloring. It mixes with fats (chocolate, ganache, cocoa butter, buttercream) but does not dissolve in a water-based preparation such as classic royal icing.

Does this food coloring work in buttercream?

Yes, since buttercream is a fat-based preparation, Red blends into it normally when mixed in gradually until the desired shade is reached.

Is the 20 ml bottle enough for a whole cake?

As the food coloring is highly concentrated, a few drops are enough to color a substantial amount of preparation: a 20 ml bottle of Red will generally color several batches of chocolate, ganache, or buttercream.
