COLOUR MILL

Colour Mill Purple Water-Soluble Food Colouring

Purple shade, 20 ml bottle for water-based mixtures

Colour Mill Water-Soluble Purple evokes ripe grapes and violet flowers. This water-based food colouring is designed for water-based baking mixtures: royal icing, water-based icing, syrups, meringues and macarons. This shade is especially popular for royal icing on cupcakes for girls' birthday parties with a unicorn theme, or Halloween cookies for children or teens.

Water-soluble

Purple

Features

  • Concentrated water-soluble food colouring for water-based mixtures: royal icing, water-based icing, syrups, meringues, macarons
  • Not suitable for fat-based mixtures (chocolate, ganache, cocoa butter): water causes chocolate to seize
  • Soft 20 ml dropper bottle for precise dosing
  • Colour remains stable after royal icing has dried completely (about 24 hours), with no change in tone
  • Gluten-free, lactose-free, egg-free, peanut-free, soy-free

Usage tips

  • Shake the bottle before use and mix into a room-temperature base (18 to 22 °C)
  • Typical amount: 2 to 4 drops per 250 g for a pastel shade, up to 20 drops for a dark shade
  • Mix, then leave to rest for 15 minutes before adjusting the shade if needed
  • To color chocolate or ganache, use the oil-soluble Colour Mill range, not this water-soluble coloring

Your questions, our advice

Is this coloring suitable for royal icing?

Yes, that's its main use: it's designed for water-based mixtures (royal icing, water-based glazes, syrups, meringues, macarons) and dries without any change in color.

How many drops for 250 g of mixture?

Use 2 to 4 drops for a pastel shade, 5 to 10 drops for a bright shade, and up to 20 drops for a dark shade. It's best to add gradually.

Separation has appeared in the 20 ml bottle. Is this normal?

Yes, slight separation between the pigment and carrier liquid is normal during prolonged storage: shake for 10 seconds before each use.
