How many drops should I use to achieve the Red shade?

Use approximately four to six drops per 100 g of fat-based ingredient for a strong Red shade. Add gradually to melted chocolate or lukewarm buttercream, mixing between each addition.

Is this Red coloring suitable for fondant or royal icing?

As an oil-soluble food coloring, Red is formulated for fat-based preparations: melted white, dark or milk chocolate, cocoa butter, ganache and buttercream. It is not designed for water-based preparations such as royal icing or fondant worked with water, in which it will not disperse properly. Reserve it for fat-based recipes, especially Christmas creations and Valentine's Day decorations.

Can Red be mixed with another Colour Mill shade?

Yes, Colour Mill oil-soluble food colorings can be mixed together to adjust Red toward a lighter or deeper tone. Test on a small amount of fat-based ingredient before coloring the entire preparation.
