Colour Mill - Choco Drip

Choco Drip 125g - Black

Ready-to-use pouring chocolate, deep opaque black

Colour Mill Black Choco Drip is a ready-to-use pouring chocolate colored throughout in a deep, opaque black, opaque from the first layer and matte once set. It creates bold graphic contrasts without having to color white chocolate yourself.

Packaged in a flexible 125 g pouch with a pouring spout, it heats up in just a few seconds and can be applied directly around the edge of the cake.

Recommended uses

  • Halloween and gothic or graphic themes
  • Strong contrasts on white, cream, or gold backgrounds for a highly visual finish
  • Piped lettering and logos on light-colored icing for a chalkboard effect

Instructions

  • Heat the sealed pouch in 10-second intervals in the microwave (or in a bain-marie over low heat) until smooth and fluid, without lumps
  • Test it on the edge of a bowl: the drip should stop after 2 to 3 cm without running all the way to the bottom
  • Apply to a very cold cake, gently squeezing from the edge outward, then refrigerate for 15 minutes to set the drip

Please note: heat in short 10-second intervals rather than all at once: heating for too long makes the drip too runny, causing the drips to slide down to the cake board. The cake should be taken straight from the refrigerator, with the outer icing already set, so the drip stops cleanly.

Frequently asked questions

Is a single layer of black drip enough to cover without showing through?

Yes, the color is opaque from the first application. There is no need to apply a second layer to hide the light-colored icing underneath.

How can I avoid drips that are too thick with this dark color?

Test the consistency on a bowl before applying it: the drip should stop at 2–3 cm. On black surfaces, a drip that is too fluid is more noticeable than a light-colored one.

Can this black drip be paired with gold decorations?

Yes, it is a classic combination in cake design: apply the black drip first, let it set, then add touches of gold coloring or gold spray on top.
