Crisco Shortening 450g is a vegetable shortening made from refined soybean and palm oils, used by cake designers to work with fondant and create stable American buttercreams. Its smooth texture and neutral flavor make it a valued technical ingredient in the workshop.

Uses in cake design

  • Soften hardened fondant: warm a small amount (about 5 g) between your hands, then knead it in
  • Grease the work surface without leaving a starch residue
  • Lubricate cookie cutters for clean cuts
  • Replace 30 to 50% of the butter in American buttercream for a stable texture, including in hot climates
