Cream of tartar, known as "potassium tartrate", is a natural salt used in the food industry. Often combined with sodium bicarbonate, it is used as a baking powder in foods.
In the EU, potassium tartrate is sometimes used in grape juice, canned fruit and vegetables, sweeteners, biscuits, rusks and some baby foods.
