Frequently asked questions
Your questions, our advice
How many drops of red gel should I use for 300 g of buttercream?
Use 2 to 6 drops, depending on the desired intensity, from light red to bright red. Add the gel gradually and mix well between each addition.
How can I achieve a deep red without thinning the batter?
Color it the day before and leave it to mature covered with plastic wrap in the refrigerator: the shade will continue to develop without the need to add more gel.
Is Dr. Oetker red gel food coloring suitable for vegetarians?
No, it contains carmine (E120), an animal-derived colorant extracted from cochineal. For a vegan alternative, choose a gel without E120.
