Blue Bell is a 100 ml oil-soluble food coloring by Colour Mill, the large-size option in the range, designed for professional use or regular production, unlike the 20 ml bottle, which is more suited to occasional use. Its soft blue-violet shade, similar to the bellflower, blends directly into fatty mixtures without affecting their texture or setting.

Your questions, our advice
How many drops should I use to achieve the Blue Bell shade?
Two to three drops per 100 g of fat are generally enough to achieve a pastel Blue Bell shade. Add one drop at a time and mix before adding more: the color intensifies quickly on a white base.
Is this Blue Bell colorant compatible with fondant or royal icing?
An oil-soluble colorant, Blue Bell is formulated for fatty mixtures: melted white, dark or milk chocolate, cocoa butter, ganache and buttercream. It is not designed for water-based mixtures such as royal icing or fondant prepared with water, where it will not disperse properly: reserve it for fatty bases, particularly for soft gradients and romantic wedding cakes.
Can I mix Blue Bell with another Colour Mill shade?
Yes, Colour Mill oil-soluble colorants can be mixed together to adjust Blue Bell to a lighter or deeper shade. Test on a small amount of fat before coloring the entire mixture.
