Choosing the length
- 16 cm: standard tiers 10 to 15 cm tall, the versatile size
- 30 cm: very tall tiers (20 to 25 cm) or a central dowel passing through several tiers
Use
- Insert the dowels vertically down to the cake board below
- Place a 12 mm cake drum between each tier to distribute the weight
- Use 5 to 8 sticks per tier, depending on the weight they need to support
- Remove the sticks when cutting, before serving

How do I choose between 16 cm and 30 cm?
The 16 cm length is suitable for standard tiers 10 to 15 cm high. The 30 cm length is intended for very tall tiers or a central rod passing through several tiers to secure them during transport.
How many sticks should I use per tier?
Allow 5 sticks for a light tier (up to 1 kg), 6 for a medium tier (1 to 2 kg), and 7 to 8 for a heavy tier (2 to 3 kg), always with an intermediate 12 mm cake drum.
Can they be reused?
No. Wood is porous and may absorb the cake’s juices. Professional practice is to use them once; for a reusable option, choose a polypropylene support.
