Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (convection oven 160 °C).

  2. Prepare 250 g of FunCakes Deluxe Sponge Mix according to the package instructions. Divide the batter into the pans and bake the cakes for about 25-30 minutes. Let them cool on a wire rack.

  3. Prepare 125 g of FunCakes Buttercream Mix according to the package instructions and flavor the buttercream with FunCakes Passion Fruit Flavor Paste.

  4. Cut the cakes in half using a cake slicer. Stack the layers, alternating with buttercream and spread a thin layer of buttercream around the cake. Chill to set in the refrigerator.

  5. Then apply a second thicker layer of buttercream and smooth it well with a spatula. Chill again in the refrigerator to set.

  6. After chilling, apply the Tropical Sprinkles to the lower part of the cake. Gently press with your hands until the sprinkles adhere to the cake.

  7. For the tropical leaves, roll out the fondants on a work surface dusted with FunCakes Magic Dust to a thickness of about 2 mm. Cut out several shapes using the Tropical Leaves cutter set. Use a cutting knife to remove excess. Once the leaves are dry, stick them onto the sticks with a little FunCakes Royal Icing.

  8. For the Happy Birthday plaque, roll out the fondant on a work surface dusted with FunCakes Magic Dust to a thickness of about 2 mm. Press the embossing stamp onto the fondant then carefully remove it. Cut out a circle making sure the text is centered. Paint the deep lines made by the stamp with a very fine brush and the Metallic Food Paint.

  9. For the toucan, roll out the black fondant on a work surface dusted with FunCakes Magic Dust to a thickness of about 10 mm. Cut out the body and tail using a fondant knife or scalpel. Tip! Make a silhouette of the toucan on paper to facilitate tracing.

  10. Mark the tail feathers with the fondant knife. Roll out the white fondant to about 2 mm thickness and attach it to the body with very little water or edible glue. Use a ball tool to mark the eye socket.

  11. Form a small black fondant oval and stick it with very little water or edible glue into the eye socket. Make a tiny white ball and stick it onto the black oval. Roll out yellow fondant to about 10 mm thickness and cut out the beak using the homemade stencil, mark the lower line with the knife.

  12. Roll out black fondant about 5 mm thick and cut out the wing, then stick it to the body. Form a pink ball, flatten it with your fingers and stick it near the eye with water or edible glue. Attach the beak and tail. Gently press the skewer stick into the middle of the bird and do not move it until everything is completely dry.
