Steps
-
Knead 850 g of white fondant, roll it out to a thickness of 2 mm and cut the house pieces. Cut the surfboards by hand with the cutter wheel.
-
Roll out 250 g of grey fondant thinly and press the impression mat into the fondant using a rolling pin. Cut strips from the grey fondant and attach them to the front and sides of the house.
-
Color a little fondant light blue and roll it out thinly. Cut out the door and imprint the wood texture again on the rest of the fondant. Cover the roof parts of the house with this fondant. Also cut the front panels along the eaves and the door frames.
-
Then cut a white circle with a hole in the middle and cover it with slices of red fondant. Assemble the house using royal icing. Tip! Prepare the house and surfboard at least 2 days in advance to allow them to dry well. Assemble the house parts once everything is completely dry.
-
For the shells, lightly mix some light blue, grey, and white fondant to create a marbled effect. Use the shell mold to create shells with this marbled texture.
-
Preheat the oven to 180 °C (convection oven 160 °C).
-
Prepare 400 g of FunCakes Deluxe sponge cake mix as indicated on the package. Grease the molds with Bake Release spray. Divide the cake batter between the two molds. Bake the sponge cake for 30 to 35 minutes and unmold onto a cooling rack to cool completely.
-
Prepare 300 g of FunCakes buttercream mix as indicated on the package. Add flavor paste to the buttercream according to taste. Place the sponge cakes on a cake board cut to size, cut each cake twice with a cake leveler, then fill and cover completely with buttercream. Chill in the refrigerator.
-
Roll out the white fondant very thinly into an elongated strip. If necessary, trim with a sharp knife. Place this strip on a work surface dusted with magic powder for rolling out and roll the edges with the bulbous cone. This will curl the fondant. Attach two strips of this fondant from the upper edge against the cake. No glue is needed as it sticks to the buttercream. Color the remaining white fondant in different shades of blue, create strips as described above, and attach them on the cake. Using the navy blue color dust and a brush, color the edges of the fondant.
-
Insert 4 rods into the cake and cut them to size. Crush the biscuits in a food processor. Cover the smaller cake with biscuit crumbs by pressing them against the cake by hand. Attach this cake to the one below with a little buttercream. Sprinkle the biscuit crumbs around the edge. Carefully place the house on the cake and arrange the surfboards all around. Decorate with the shells.
