Steps
-
Knead the black fondant well then roll it out to about 2 mm thickness. Cut out several bats and insert a piece of silver wire dipped in glue. Let dry thoroughly, ideally for one or two days. When the bats are fully dry, lightly coat them with edible glue and sprinkle with black glitter.
-
Preheat the oven to 110 °C (convection oven 100 °C).
-
Make sure you have a bowl and whisk free of grease and whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Put the fine granulated sugar together with icing sugar and cornstarch in a bowl and mix. Add this mixture spoon by spoon to the egg whites while stirring. Whip at high speed until a glossy stiff peak meringue forms.
-
Place the meringue in a piping bag fitted with the No. 2A tip. Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper and pipe swirls of various sizes. Let dry in the oven for 1½ hour.
-
Prepare 400 g FunCakes Buttercream Mix according to package instructions. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
-
Prepare 250 g FunCakes Deluxe Sponge Cake Mix according to package instructions and color the batter orange. Grease the pan with release spray and pour the orange batter into the pan. Bake the sponge cake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes. Let cool on a wire rack. Repeat for a purple sponge cake.
-
Finish the buttercream as indicated on the package, divide it into two portions and color 1 portion orange and 1 portion green.
-
Cut the cakes into 2 or 3 layers with a cake leveler, stack them alternating with the colored biscuits and fill with the green buttercream. Cover the outside with a thin layer of orange buttercream then let rest in the refrigerator for 15 to 30 minutes.
-
Then cover the cake again with orange buttercream and smooth the sides with a scraper. Let firm up in the refrigerator for another 15 to 30 minutes.
-
Melt some FunCakes black Deco Melts according to the instructions and place in a piping bag. Cut a small hole and let the black Deco Melts drip over the cake edge. Return to the fridge for 5 to 10 minutes so the Deco Melts hardens and shines.
-
Put some Deco Melts in a flower pick and insert the wired bats. Refrigerate for 5 minutes so the Deco Melts harden and the bats do not roll.
-
Draw faces on the meringues with the black food pen and stick them on top of the cake with a bit of melted Deco Melts. Insert the flower pick with bats between the ghosts.
