Steps
-
Preheat the oven to 180°C (fan 160°C).
-
Prepare 250 g FunCakes cupcake mix according to package instructions. Put the batter into a piping bag and fill the mold. Bake the cupcakes for about 15-18 minutes until lightly golden. Let them cool in the mold.
-
Color a small piece of white fondant light brown with the coloring gel. Slightly color small pieces of colored fondant with the coloring gel to make them a bit darker.
-
Brush the cakes with apricot jam. Knead all the fondant well and roll it into thin sheets 1-2 mm thick to cover the cakes as you wish. Cut off the excess. TIP! Store unused fondant pieces in a plastic bag or under an overturned container to prevent drying out.
-
On all the cakes, make the eyes with the PME Taper & Round Point modeling tool (bulbous cone) by piercing holes. Put a little edible glue in the holes and insert a black pearl. Make a mouth with the wide side of the PME Flower/Leaf modeling tools.
-
For the apple/pear, create a brown stem from fondant by hand. Roll a small piece of fondant between your fingers into a stick and glue it to the top of the cake. For the leaf, roll a piece of green fondant into a droplet shape and press gently flat. Using PME Knife and Shell modeling tools, make a vein on the leaf and glue it on top.
-
For the chicken, shape an orange fondant beak by hand and glue it with a little edible glue.
-
For the birds, roll out a piece of white fondant and cut out a suitable heart shape. Glue it onto the cake. Roll out a thin piece of orange fondant and cut a small heart to use as a beak.
-
For the pigs, roll out a small piece of dark pink fondant and cut ears with PME wheel cutters. Glue the ears to the cakes. For the snout, roll an oval ball between your fingers and press gently flat. Make two nostrils with the back of a small brush and glue it on.
-
For the rabbit ears, roll out fondant 2-3 mm thick and cut ears with PME wheel cutters. Insert a piece of gauge 20 wire into them and stick them into the cakes. Make a small nose from pink fondant.
-
For the fox, roll out a thin piece of white fondant and cut a large heart. Starting from the top, cut almost in two and glue it on the cake. Use a black pearl for the nose. For the ears, roll two small pieces of orange fondant into drop shapes, press lightly flat and glue them on.
-
Mix some FunCakes White Snow and Pink Rose coloring powders and give a blush effect on the faces with a small brush.
-
Roll several small pieces of fondant of different colors into very thin sheets. Cut many small flowers and glue them on the cakes with some edible glue.
