Steps
-
Colour almost all 300 grams of marzipan brown. Place an image of a sloth inside a plastic sleeve and cut the other into puzzle pieces. Grease all the paper pieces on the back with Crisco to prevent sticking. Roll out the marzipan very thinly on a surface dusted with magic dusting powder, lay the greased pieces on top and cut them out using the cutting wheel. Place them on the sloth in the plastic sleeve. For the nose, color a small piece of marzipan with the peach gel color. Use natural marzipan for the beard and claws, and create the eyes using a small black ball of fondant. Accentuate the eyes further with the black edible brush pen. For the trunk, roll out brown marzipan thinly and create the correct texture by pressing the wood grain texture mat.
-
Preheat the oven to 180°C (convection oven 160°C).
-
Prepare 250 grams of FunCakes Sponge Cake Mix according to the package instructions. Grease the pan. Bake the sponge cake for 30 to 35 minutes and let it cool on a rack.
-
Prepare 200 grams of FunCakes Buttercream Mix according to the instructions and add hazelnut flavor to taste. Cut the sponge cake in half with the leveler and cover it with hazelnut buttercream. Let it set in the refrigerator.
-
Knead 750 grams of fondant and color it brown. Use part of the fondant to cover the top of the cake and carefully clean the edges with a sharp knife. Dust the Karen Davies mold with cornstarch, remove excess, and press the fondant into it. Place the fondant with the wood grain texture onto a paper towel and dust it to your liking with the two brown powders and the black powder. Make sure there is enough to surround the whole cake and apply it to the sides. The buttercream will make the fondant adhere. Make a few cuts on top with the flower/leaf tool and create rings with the cutting wheel. Dust these incisions and rings again with the three colors of powder.
-
Roll out 100 grams of green fondant thinly and cut out the leaves. Carefully place the sloth on the cake using edible glue and also attach the leaves with glue.
