Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C convection oven).

  2. Prepare 500 g of FunCakes biscuit mix as indicated on the packet. Wrap it in cling film and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least one hour.

  3. Roll out the dough on a floured surface (thickness 0.5 cm). Cut out the cottage pieces from the dough and bake them in the center of the preheated oven for about 12 minutes until a nice golden yellow color is obtained. Let the biscuits cool.

  4. Prepare FunCakes icing sugar as indicated on the packet. Whisk the icing at low speed for 7 to 10 minutes until you get a firm, white icing. The icing is ready when it is bright white, has lost its shine, and you can form peaks that do not fall. Tip! If you use a hand mixer, be careful not to block it!

  5. To use the icing as a spreadable glaze on the biscuits, it needs to be softened. Add 1 teaspoon of water per 200 grams of icing. Make sure to keep a bowl of icing at a solid consistency. This will be the “glue” to assemble the biscuit cottage.

  6. Divide the icing into 4 bowls and add food coloring to 3 of them. Fill the piping bags with icing and decorate the biscuit pieces with the icing and nonpareils. Let dry overnight.

  7. The next day, assemble the cottage using the solid consistency icing. Finish the cottage with pumpkins and a fondant spider. Or let your creativity run wild.
