Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (160 °C for convection oven).

  2. Prepare 400 g of FunCakes Deluxe Sponge Mix according to the package instructions. Grease the pans with the cooking spray and divide the batter between the two pans. Bake the sponges for about 30-35 minutes and let them cool on a wire rack. Tip! Is your oven too small to bake two sponges at the same time? No problem, you can bake one cake after the other. Simply prepare the batters for both cakes separately. If you let the sponge batter rest too long before baking, it will lose its aeration. And that's not what we want! For individual cake quantities, consult our quantity chart.

  3. Prepare 200 g of FunCakes Special Edition Swiss Meringue Buttercream Mix according to the package instructions.

  4. Meanwhile, let the children draw on the frosting sheets with the FunColours brush pens.

  5. Cut each sponge twice and fill all around with the Swiss meringue buttercream. Refrigerate the cakes for at least 30 minutes. Knead the sugarpaste evenly and roll it out on the magic rolling powder to a thickness of about 2-3 mm, then cover the cakes with it.

  6. Stack the cakes using skewers and a cake board. Tip! Watch this video to learn how to stack your cake properly and you can also slightly trim the board underneath so it is not visible under your cake.

  7. Cut out the drawings from the frosting sheet and adhere them to your cake with the decorating gel. For decorations on a stick, cut a piece of sugarpaste the same shape as the drawing and let it dry overnight. Stick the drawing on top of the sugarpaste with decorating gel. Attach a skewer to the back with a little royal icing and place the decoration inside the cake. Tip! Make sure to rub the entire print well with decorating gel without missing any part, otherwise bubbles may appear!
