Steps
-
Use an apple corer to make 4 holes in the largest dummy and 4 holes in the medium dummy sized for the tealight candles.
-
Prepare 1.35 kilo of FunCakes royal icing mix as indicated on the package. Divide it into three unequal portions. Do this according to the size of the dummies. Color the largest portion green, the medium portion pink, and the smallest yellow. Keep some royal icing for the tufts on top of the cake.
-
Spread a layer of royal icing on the dummies with a palette knife, then smooth and let dry. Repeat with a second layer for better coverage. Stack the dummies together with some royal icing serving as glue to keep the cake stable.
-
Knead the fondant well, divide it into 8 portions and color them with the gels. For the flag bunting, roll out different colors of fondant to about 1 to 2 mm thickness and use the bunting cutter to cut the flags. Take a small piece of color of your choice and roll it into a thin string by hand. This will be the string holding up the flags. Attach the string with a little glaze gel against the cake. Then attach the flags with some gel onto the string and add a few lines of fondant around the tealight candle placements.
-
Roll out different colors of fondant again and cut various sizes of circles with the round cutters. Attach them with glaze gel onto your middle cake.
-
Assemble the multi-ribbon cutter with a space between the discs of about 0.5 cm. Roll out very thin layers of fondant colors and layer two contrasting colors. Use the multi-ribbon cutter to cut the fondant pieces. Attach the twisted fondant pieces against the cake with a little glaze gel.
-
Color the royal icing you reserved into two colors of your choice and place them together in a piping bag with tip #1M. Generously pipe tufts on top of the cake and insert small candles. Let dry well again.
