Instructions for use

  1. Take the desired amount with a clean toothpick, lightly touching the gel surface.
  2. Incorporate into the preparation and mix gradually.
  3. For sugar paste, knead 5 to 8 minutes until fully homogeneous.
  4. For buttercream and royal icing, whip or spatula gently to avoid bubbles.
  5. Let rest the recommended time: the color naturally intensifies after a few minutes.
  6. Adjust in small amounts if the shade is too pale.

Is Wilton colorant suitable for coloring chocolate?

No. Wilton gel colorants are water-based, incompatible with chocolate. To color chocolate or ganache, use oil-soluble colorants.

How many jars for a 3-tier wedding cake?

A 28 g Wilton jar covers about 8 to 10 kg of sugar paste or 5 to 7 kg of buttercream depending on the desired intensity. One jar is enough for most 3-tier wedding cakes.

Does the color remain stable over time?

Yes, on fondant and sugar paste the color lasts several weeks away from light. On buttercream and cream, keep refrigerated for 5 to 7 days.

How to get a lighter or darker shade?

To lighten: add white (extra white fondant) or reduce the amount. To darken: add an extra half tip and let rest for 30 minutes before judging.

Orange tip?

For a softer peach orange, mix with half a tip of Pink.
