Concentrated black coloring for fondant, icing and buttercream
Wilton Black Gel Food Coloring lets you precisely adjust the color intensity, from a pastel shade to a deep tone, without making your mixture watery. Its vegetable charcoal base produces a deep, opaque black with just a few dabs, without turning gray like some competing food colorings.

Frequently asked questions
Your questions, our advice
How much food coloring do I need for a pastel shade?
A small amount on the tip of a toothpick for 500 g of sugar paste or buttercream is generally enough for a pastel shade; increase gradually for a more intense color.
Is this gel food coloring suitable for chocolate?
No, this gel is formulated for aqueous or emulsified fat-based preparations (sugar paste, icing, cream). For chocolate, use an oil-based food coloring.
Why does my black turn gray?
Too little coloring or an already-colored base can result in a dull gray: increase the amount or start with a neutral white base.
