How do you choose the right diameter for your project?
One dummy with a diameter of 15 to 20 cm is enough for practicing techniques. For a display piece, choose a diameter of 25 to 30 cm. For a 3-tier wedding cake dummy, combine diameters of 15, 20 and 25 cm, or 10, 15, 20 and 25 cm for 4 tiers.
Does sugar paste really stay on polystyrene?
Yes, as long as you apply an adhesive layer (piping gel, vegetable shortening or melted butter) between the polystyrene and the sugar paste. Without this step, the paste will slide.
Can it be used for a tiered cake for a family celebration or birthday?
Yes, this size works just as well for wedding cakes as for dummy cakes for family celebrations, birthdays or baby showers, decorated to suit the chosen theme.
